Forest certification has increased in importance in recent years as the end users of timber require assurance that their timber is derived from sustainably managed woods. In the UK, the agreed standard for forest certification is the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS).
Andrew Bronwin & Co Ltd operates a dual certified group scheme audited by the Soil Association to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) standards.
Forest certification often commands a premium on the price paid by the mills and some mills may decline to purchase timber which is not certified.
Services offered include:
- Pre-certification assessments of woodlands and management procedures.
- UKWAS compliant management plans and maps.
- Membership of the Andrew Bronwin & Co Ltd group certification scheme.
- Working with forest owners to ensure compliance with the UKWAS standard.
