It is hugely aspirational which is not unusual for most Welsh Government strategies and the test will be Government’s ability to deliver. It recognises the benefits a commercial sector can offer to Wales but it fails to acknowledge that some difficult decisions will need to be taken if the objectives are to be delivered.
We can only hope the Strategy is a mechanism for increasing productive woodland cover and creating rural employment and not a fudge leading to stagnation of the forest sector.
