The woodlands are located in the Usk Valley to the south and east of Abergavenny in Wales and total 312 hectares made up of individual woods ranging from less than a hectare to 80 hectares. The composition of the woodlands is typical of many Estates with a wide range of species both conifers and broadleaves. Access is often an issue requiring creative and cost effective solutions. Recent woodland management has concentrated on the improvement of the younger crops through first thinnings, cleaning, brashing, thinning to waste and the control of rhododendron and laurel.
“With a number of crops early in their rotation intervention at the right time is important whilst maintaining the amenity value of the woods particularly the parkland. Andrew Bronwin & Co has always ensured work is carried out to the correct stage and completed to a high standard despite many challenges posed by difficult access.” James Perks, Resident Land Agent
